Mumme Journal Hastings Reservation (7 may) Then Walter shows me how to work the camera at Low Hay, then I check upon 1800 + S Hill West, then open the nest at 1800, count the eggs at Gate, then watch 1800 through roosting. 8 May Early morning watch at Low Hay, complete with a runt egg at the roost hole, which I manage to break. Oh, well. Nest check at School Hill, then dinner at Wills' and "The man in the white suit" at the library. 9 may Another early AM at Low Hay, then peeping nest checks at 1800 + Reaching nest checks at Gate 3 trips up Haystack today, waiting (in vain) for an egg laid by 9524 to be tossed. 10 May Frustrating morning at Low Hay, but followed by good news that 9523 tossed 9524's egg (see Low Hay). Called mom + Bob, napped, transcribed tapes, roosting at Low Hay 11 may Another day, another egg tossed at Low Hay (unfortunately, missed by Byron) napping, nest checks at 1500 + 1800, then another late water at Low Hay. Successful roosting at 1800. 12 may Excellent early watch at Low Hay. Then the usual relaxing, napping, note-transcribing, and notebook organizing until roosting at School Hill. 13 May Both 99 lay at Low Hay today, ending egg-tossing Nest check at Gate, I find a nest at Gazebo, and watch poorly at Blow-ose. Nest check S Hill.
