1981 R.C. Munne Melanerpos fornicivorus Gate Hastings Reservation 12 Jan A quick stop here at 1315. ♀601 Lgreen/Yellow flycatching as I drive up. Another ♀ (presume 519, but didn't see beds) and ♂627 show up briefly. 1430, all 4 birds together up on the side of School Hill including ♀519 Blk-Yellow/Black ad ♂626 Complete census 8 March Poking around here, noon 1200-1400, I get in a complete census. ♀519 Blk-Yellow/m, ♀601 Lcorn/Yellow m / DBlue-wrt (n) and ♂627 (partial) DBlue Again 3of 4 (save ♀519) Flycatching from Blue Oaks on side of School Hill 10 April 1510, 4 birds seen here in passing, so ♀601 must be bred from the Lower Haystack Revolution (see LH notes) Back at 1630 with M. Peacock. All 4 birds seen well! (♂626, ♂627, ♀601, ♀529). Believe it or not, birds still harvesting acorns from that agrifolia along the creek 40m S of the Hastings Gate! Lots of intruders in that tree but the only one I identify ♂577 from Rd1 Good mate guarding seen (see reverse) with ignoring of ♀601 by the two ♂♂. Here with binos, I saw mountings, with no interference between by a third bird watching the copulating pair Interesting. Will have to watch here more. end. 12 April Start watch here 1140.
