1981 R.L. Mumme Journal Hastings Reservation 16 April Watched at Plaque early for egg-laying. Tried a watch at Rd 1 without much success, but I did replace the string that fell from the nest limb (for rope ladder). Checked nests at Rd 3 and Gate, watched roosting at Plague. 17 April Another early morning Plaque watch, then a quick watch at Rd 1 revealed a second nest (52, 9269) in the making. I climb up to that nest (quite a chore) open the hole (easy) find no eggs, (simple), then try to put the hole back together (not easy). Nest check at Rd 3, (roosting at Rd 3 also), Then a great party in "The Antler Room", hosted by Byron. 18 April A memorable day. Egg-tossing extravaganza at Road 1 Then rain + regrouping, writing notes, baking, etc. Egg-toss party and easter egg hunt at Red House 19 April Less memorable, nasty, rainy morning at Road 1, Longnatur there, then a quick watch at Plaque and a hike up to Buckeye. Roosting at Gate 20 April Last of the egg-toss days at Rd 1, a watch at Con Hany and a swing by Gazebo. Watch at 1800, 1800, nest check at Gate. Roosting at Rd 1, 21 April Basically a shitty day. Another egg at Rd 1, nest check at Rd 3 (complete clutch!), then disaster! Plague sneaks in a nest with 2 eggs in the upper hole of the two Buckeye canyon holes. Mary reports, 9604 (of [illegible] Low Hay) back home at School Hill 22 April Laying watch at Plaque, watch at Low Hay, 1800. Nest check at Gate, roosting at Road 1,
