**6 Oct**
GROUP UPDATE: ♀484 last seen on 3 Aug, clearly gone by 19 August, ♀484 disappeared about 12 Aug ± 1 week. ♀523 + ♀604 both moved here about that same date. However, ♀523 then returned to Low Hay. ♀523 was still at Hay Blom on 22 Aug, but was back at Low Hay on 20 Sept. Thus, ♀523 moved watched group 6 Sept ± 2 weeks.
**Purge J712:** Not seen after landing @ 18 July
1 Nov
A quick look here 1200-1235. ♂173, ♀604 both see well. The granary is filling up with acorns. J711 also here.
5 Nov
Granary census, 1100-1300. Highlight is that J711 is positively in 9 plumage. A bit of storing early but cool, cloudy, slight drizzle may have turned the birds off.
21 Nov
Granary census, 1400-1600, on reverse. Complete census, but no storage, even though granary isn't full yet.
1 Dec
Trying another granary census, 0830-1030, complete census.
Counted Stores:
S Branches, Eastside 60 Wside 60
N "", down 80 wside 115
"main" dead limb, E side 40 W 50
Trunk
800
Total 1200 doing pretty well!
A real storing frenzy while I was doing the granary census (see reverse) 41 acorns in an hour. At first they were harvesting from the same Live Oaks as last year, along the old Blom fence line (28 sec roundtrip flight time), and later switched to a live oak on the Hastings side, S of the nest tree.
