1981 R.L. Mumme Melanerpes formicivorus 1500 * 6 Oct Time for a group update, ♀435 is gone, last seen on 3 July (by Mary Peacock). She was certainly gone by 18 Aug, where I watched and found ♂601 there, so I would say ♀435 disappeared 24 July ± 2 weeks. Same situation for ♂623. It's unclear whether she disappeared along with ♂435 (both killed at a roost hole, perhaps?) or ♂435 disappeared, first, and the subsequent arrival of ♂601 precipitated ♂523's departure. At any rate, ♂623 has not been seen since, so ♂623 disappeared 24 July ± 2 weeks. ♂601 was still present at Gate on 16 July, but was first seen at 1500 on 18 Aug, and already looked quite "comfortable" with ♂297, so ♂601 immigrated as adult on 2 Aug ± 2 weeks ♂622 is a problem. He very definitely moved to Blom-1 about 20 July ± 2 weeks. He was at 1500 3 July, at Blom 1 definitely or 20 Aug (and probably 4 Aug as well). He was still at Blom 1 on 14 Sept, then seen back at 1500 on 30 Sept, so ♂622 returned ** 22 Sept ± 1 week. 17 Oct ♂601 and ♂676 at Y. 21 Nov Good complete census here, 1045-1115. ♂297, ♂622, ♂601, ♂675, ♂676, ♂677 all seen well. Lots of storing activity in both the knoll blue oak and the 2° g. No storing seen in the 1° grassy. 8 Dec Counted stores, 1500: 2° grassy 320 TOTAL 2020 Main 1700
