(19 oct) no takers in 1½ hr, 0900-1030, but the birds
show some interest. I may try some more.
Anyway, a lot of 1800 birds on the knoll. ♂561,
♂564 anyway, plus ♀NBs.
Again here at 1630, ♂562 war-com/m here
too, so a large 1800 contingent ♀695 and J696 also here,
and I got the fleeting impression that J696 might actually
be ♀ too. All 1800 helpers here, except ♀565.
Where might she be? Also here are ♀NB, and
♀664 from Buckeye on the knoll.
28 oct Watching 1210. The usual gang in the Lower Barn locusts,
♀668, ♂669, 2♀NB. Plus ♂402 was visiting here
again, but at 1215 I saw him (presumably) make (continuous flight from the locusts to School Hill
Storing is in progress! Saw each of the 2♀NB store an
agrifolia acorn (gathered from the corner live oak)
1330, The knoll is still in contention. ♂564 and ♀695 of
1800, a ♀NB (perhaps 2) and ♀664 of Buckeye all hanging
out here (the ♀NB is not the same as the 2 resident
♀NB). Anyway, they (especially the ♀NB) seem to be
defending the knoll area from the Y residents. The
small but acorn-laden Valley Oak nearest the corner is
particularly contested. End 1340. The knoll birds
(♂564, ♀NB) in control of the knoll roost tree, as well
20 Nov Just when I think all the confusion at the Y is over,
I find out otherwise. Watching here 0930-1130 I find
① All 4 "usuals" in the lower barn locusts, ♀668, ♂669
