7-9-38 Agrostemma Githago. G 384; BUSTI 611-E Sent by Mrs. Keen for identification about June 20. Found spontaneous in her garden. 7-9-38 Digitalis lanata Ehrh BM. J C.P.678 Flvalv: fs. Brought by Mrs. Keen for identification on July 5. Found growing in stony, sandy place west of Lime Rock bridge (over Nonsatonic) along side road in general neighborhood & Music Mountain. 2 plants only found & transplanted to Mrs. K's garden. Old house nearby but Mrs. K. did not think it looked as tho escaped from its any garden it may have led. Key leads directly to Digitalis v desc. of D. lanata ago98 P.B.K. feels confident ident. Corolla only 3/4 in or more (more 1 in to acc to desc.) Lower part & at.v lower two glabrous. Upper part & at (infl) bracts, calyx v corolla covered with "long, soft gland-tipped hairs". Flo rescile. The 2 upper v 2 lateral teeth of corolla almost exactly the same size. The middle lower lobe curves upwardly forward then down v somewhat under, lip very obtuse or almost rounded (desc. says "pointed") Lowest part of corolla (bet. base & constriction) nondescript whick; upper part is made broader. The brown reticulations on white ground very oddly striking or inside, duller but perfectly evident on outside. Middle lower lobes white, its veins most evident beneath. Anthers v tips of style reach just to edge of corolla under the
