7-25-38 Actaea alba Mill G 408; BvB If 90 Urujoe fs. No side drive, eastside westernmost passes pole a few steps in behind white oak. Only spec seen on Kilwood so far (not collected). Pecune like spec? 7-15-38 vbs smooth. [7-26-38* 3 fine spec- imens seen not far from base of hill towards south. 7-25-38 Carex Fr not developing. No side drive. Using keys Gv Bvb measures at C. tetanica Schkuhr G 238; BvBI 398. Plant has 4 fertile culms v stuff? lbs v base thrown out 2 slender stolon white with brownish scales) 4 in long. Culms 10-12 in, slender, sharply triangular, song lial only at top. St-lvs 25mm wide. Sheaths lowermost sheath 4-10mm. ?spike on slender rough peduncle? 2-4cm, the spike well raised above the upper ?spike. ?spike 2 on rattier short slender erect peduncles (12 in one case lower peduncle 3 cm abv top of sheath) in all cases ? spikes standing so that top one reaches to [illegible] the others. Spikes 1.5-2cm long x 3-4mm wide, loosely about 8-12 fflk. Perigynia now green, 3.5-4mm long, with minute, emarginate beak. Perigynia smooth but nerves can be discerned and some dried ones show raised nerves plainly But beak is not bent at all ("strongly bent" G) Pe- haps if fs had developed beak would have been bent.
