7-28-39 fruit spotted (not striped). Drupe densely cover ed with longish, soft, white hairs which leave most ly disappeared from young fr. (size of walnut) No members Cucurbitaceae in T.M. like our plant. 7-28-39 Lactuca scariola L. T 997; M 573; G 866 Fl v fr. Sorrento Rd frequent. St conspicuously whitish & has rough-hairy both sides, prickles on midrib continu e in a line for some distance down st. & has con- s picuous vertical joints. All lvs, even the tiny brect-like lvs & inf strongly auriculate clasping. Achene with 5 (or 6) distinct, roughened nerves (20x) on each side; "dull olive green" with purplish spots (20x) 7-28-39 Chenopodium ambrosioides L. T 321; M 136; G 366 Fl v fr. Sorrento Rd, a sketch along marsh. Lvs def "repand-dentate." Calyx lobes rounded on back (not carinate). This raises question var. antielminticium Gray but (contra) spikes are not "quite lf-less (M)." Spikes ±15mm long are succeeded by lfs about same length & each glom- erule of fls is (at least 2fw) succeeded by tiny brect as long or longer than glomerule, especially toward apx spike. 7-28-39 Ambrosia psilostachya DC. var California
