12-22-38 Fern ? Cheilanthes Corellei Maxon T 82; M 8. Collected at Cliff Dwellings beyond Roosevelt Dam. Dried specimen studied 7-21-39. Fronds 6cm long. Agree exactly with desc. vill(M.) v desc(T). (Note: C. Pringlei Dav. Ham. 17 discarded as pos. sibility because "somewhat wooly with short hair hairs below" whereas our plant densely covered with whitish scales. R.B.T. considers ident prob correct but can't be sure using only California manuals. 12-22-38 Selaginella Macrosppores with above. Poss. S. Wrightii Hieron Ham 17 whose desc. not sufficient. St (as collected) 12cm. long, prostrate, much branched, not flattened, fusely rooting on under side. Lvs 1-1+mm lanceolate with short, sterile bristle tip (broken?) in most cases when studied 7-21-39), ciliate with short distant cilia on edges. Sporophylla similar but broader [illegible] to 2 mm] at base. Only macrospores found. Strobili fairly numerous and not conspicuously different from sterile branches (in this dried condition)
