Sandon Sept. 11-92 Fresh Pond 719 Enteromphalus Hoffkirkii Some of the branches consist of a single row of cells throughout, some of two rows for a few hairs. 720 Ectocarpus terminalis, Kütz., on Ruffia (Enteromorpha) about 1 µ ± high. All about 1/2 µ or a little more in diameter— 2-14 times as long. Branching alternate or opposite. When opposite the main filament after terminating into a very fine hyaline hair from the point of branching. Such a hair also frequently taking the place of a branch or forming the termination of an ordinary filaments or branch 18-25 wide x 60-100 µ. long. Plurilocular sporangia terminal or lateral—the latter generally with a short stipe of 1-3 cells. Filaments much crowded at base where they (and also hairs) spring from an almost brenchymatous mass.
