Mayhew 1962 Journal 46. Aug. 12 Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif. after a trip of 569 miles, we caught 97 lizards of 8 species, as follows: Uma scoparia - 26 (9 σ, 14 ♀, 3 imm) (4 released) Uma notata - 24 (13 σ, 5 ♀, 6 imm) (6 released) Dipsoaurus - 8 (2 σ, 3 ♀, 3 imm) (3 released) Coleonyx - 3 (1 σ, 1 ♀, 1 imm) Crotaphytus wialigeri - 5 (2 σ, 3 ♀) Phrynosoma nicolli - 13 (2 ♀, 11 imm) (7 released) Callisaurus - 1 (σ) Urosaurus graciosa - 14 (6 σ, 7 ♀, 1 imm) (1 released) (21 animals were released) Aug 17 Hesperia, San Bernardino Co., Calif. Pete Allen, Howard York, Sue Laisch, & I left UCR at 1810. We reached Hesperia about dark, so simply set up camp for the night. Minimum temp. tonight was 58°F. Aug. 18 We arose at 0600 and ate breakfast. We looked for Sceloporus magister in the Joshua trees from 0700 to 1000. We caught 8 of them during this period. Then we drove to the rocky hills between Apple Valley & Lucerne Valley to look for Sauromalus obesus. We looked from 1100 to 1200 without seeing a single animal. Then we drove through Lucerne Valley & up Cusaberry grade to Holcomb Valley.
