Pete Allen, Howard York, Sue Laisch,
& I left UCR at 1810. We reached
Hesperia about dark, so simply set
up camp for the night. Minimum
temp. tonight was 58°F.
Aug. 18
We arose at 0600 and ate
breakfast. We looked for Sceloporus
magister in the Joshua trees from
0700 to 1000. We caught 8 of them
during this period. Then we drove
to the rocky hills between Apple
Valley & Lucerne Valley to look
for Sauromalus obesus. We
looked from 1100 to 1200 without
seeing a single animal. Then we
drove through Lucerne Valley & up
Cusaberry grade to Holcomb Valley.
