Mayhew 1962 Journal 45. Aug.11 Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif. Ike Harris then took us out to Purgetory Flats to see Don Saylor & "Andy" Anderson & their shackos. They are a couple of gold prospectors that have lived in the area for about 30 years. Then we returned to the dunes and caught the following animals between 1800 and 1845: Uma notata - 10 (6?, 1♀, 3in) (3 released) Urosaurus gracilis - 2 (10?, 1♀) We looked for Coleonyx along the road from 1950 to 2045 without seeing any. We weren't too surprised, however, because the air temp. when we quit at 2045 was 40.0°C (104°F). We returned to the road at 2225 and looked until 2340. One ♀ Coleonyx was all we found (and one juvenile Crotalus cerastes). Maximum air temp. today was 116°F; minimum temp. tonight was 82°F. Aug. 12 We arose at 0600 and ate breakfast. Then we looked for lizards along the road from 0640 to 0830. During this time we caught 7 P. m'calli (1♀, 6 juven) (5 released). We simply made one pass as we were leaving the area. We reached UCR at 1145
