Very few annuals were seen emerging in the dunes, but lots of small annuals were seen between the two canals. A number of Hesperocalia have already grown to 6" in height, but none are blooming yet. I was unable to identify the other young annuals. Late that afternoon we drove east to the Chocolate Mtn., then north to Midway Wells. We camped for the night about 2 miles north of Midway Wells.
