Mayhew 1962 Journal 43. Aug. 8 Palm Springs, Riverside Co., Calif. arriwd we didn't expect to see any. We left the area at 1035 (no more lizards were being seen) and returned to UCR. We reached UCR at 1155 after a trip of 114 miles. We caught the following lizards today: Cnemidophorus tigris - 1 (1σ) Phrynosoma mcalli - 1 (1σ) Uma inornata - 19 (7σ, 11♀, 1im σ) (1 released) Dipsosaurus dorsalis - 15 (4σ, 6♀, 2 imσ, 3 im♀)(5 released) Total - 36 Aug. 10 Dale Dry Lake, San Bernardino Co., Calif. Walt Mobley, Dave Reuther & I left UCR at 0440 for our monthly collecting trip. We looked for lizards from 0700 to 1140. Few were seen while we walked over the area, so we drove slowly down the road. We caught considerably more animals this way than we had earlier in the morning. The area is so dry it is a wonder any animals have survived there. However, we were able to capture 37 lizards this morning, as follows: Uma scoparia - 26(9σ, 14♀, 3im)(4 released) Dipsosaurus dorsalis - 7 (2σ, 3♀, 2 im)(2 released) Cystophytus wislizeni - 3(2σ)(1♀) Callisaurus macrourus - 1(σ) Total 37
