Mayhew 1962 Aug. 4 Journal 41. Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif. on the road 4 mi. W. of Glamis. One DOR Coleonyx variegatus D was collected 12 mi. W. of Glamis. In addition, 9 Coleonyx were captured (6 ad M, 1 ad Q, 2 jwrs). The minimum temp. tonight was 76°F. Aug. 5 We arose at 0630 and ate breakfast. We made one pass through from Osborne Park to the Highline Canal, looking for lizards from 0715 to 0940. We saw one juvenile Cnemidophorus tigris, and 2 jwr. Dipsosaurus dorsalis. We also saw 4 DOR Phrynosoma m'calli (3 jwrs & 1 ad M). We captured 5 P. m'celli (3 ad, 2 jwrs). As we approached Brawley, we saw tousands of birds in a plowed field that was being irrigated. The most numerous birds were black-necked stilts, followed by ring-billed gulls, black terns, and wood ibis. I counted 162 wood ibis feeding on this plot. We returned to UCR at 1430, after a trip of 434 miles. We had captured 50 lizards of 6 species on the trip, as follows: Dipsosaurus - 7 (1 ad M, 5 ins, 1 jwr), 4 released (+1 DOR) Phrynosoma m'calli-18(6 ad M, 6 ad Q, 6 jwrs), 5 released (+1 DOR) Urosaurus - 1(ad Q) Uma notata - 12 (2 ad M, 5 ad Q, 4 ins, 1 jwr), 6 released
