Aug. 4
Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif.
Crotaphytus wislizeni, 1 adult Uma notata (0),
6 Dipsosaurus dorsalis (1 ad, 5 imm.), and 12
Phrynosoma m'calli (4 ad or, 5 ad ?, 3 juv.) plus
3 DOR P. m'calli. Lots of juvenile Callisaurus
draconoides and 2 juvenil Uma notata
were seen. We rested under the bridge across
the Coachella Canal until 1620. Then we
went into the dunes 3 miles west of
Glamis. At this spot there are lots of
Palo Verde + [illegible] associated plants (Prosopis
juliflora, Larrea divaricata). We looked
for lizards until 1810. Several Uma notata
were seen when we first started into the
area, but few were seen when we got into
the relatively thick palo verde. One
Urosaurus graciosa was seen in a
Prosopis juliflora, and 2 were seen in
Cercidium floridum, but no others were
seen. We caught 1 Urosaurus and 9
Uma while we were out there. It does
not seem to contain very large numbers
of lizards. The maximum temp. today
was 103°F, which is very comfortable
out here at this time of year.
We looked for Coleonyx variegatus
along the road from 1900 to 2315.
One Urosaurus was seen on the
pavement in the dunes at 1905. A
juvenile Chionactis occipitalis was seen
