July 20 Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif.
along the road at 1000. During the drive
we saw 1 DOR Phrynosoma m'calli and
18 juvenile Callisaurus draconoides. We
rested under the Coachella Canal bridge
until 1630 , then returned to the dunes
for Urae and Urosaurus. We looked for
lizards until shortly after sundown (sundown
1845; we quit 1855). After eating chow, we
night collected from 1935 to 2200. Colonyx
variegatus were somewhat more numerous
on the road tonight than last night.
However, the temperature is somewhat higher,
and so is the humidity! We caught 5
Colonyx tonight, including a young one.
The minimum temp. tonight was $86^\circ F$.
We were chared off the big dune
(Osborne Park) about 0030 by the
wind + sand.
July 21 We arose at 0615 and ate breakfast.
Then we drove the road between the
canals looking for lizards from 0655
to 1125. We saw 5 DOR Phrynosoma
m'calli and lots of DOR Callisaurus
draconoides juveniles. The sky was
completely overcast all morning, with
no breeze blowing. Consequently, the
humidity was rather unbearable. However,
6 Phrynosoma m'calli were captured
during the morning.
