Mayhew 1962 July 11 Journal 34. Palm Springs, Riverside Co., Calif. Walt Molerby + I left UCR at 0600 to get our monthly lizard sample. We began looking for lizards at 0700. The sky was about 50% overcast, and a 3-5 mph breeze was blowing from the northwest. We collected in the shallow wash east of the subdivision on the south side of Vista Chino ave. again. This time, however, we walked considerably further south than before. Naturally the Uma population in that small area seemed somewhat reduced. Nevertheless, we were able to get a reasonable sample of U. inornata there. There seemed to be more Dipsosaurus dorsalis here this time, but this may have been because we left this area shortly after Dipsosaurus emerged last time. We collected until 1010. By then we had captured 42 lizards of 6 species, as follows: Phrynosoma m'calli - 3 (2?, 1?) Crotaphytus wrioligeni - 2 (?) Callisaurus draconoides - 1 (?) Urosaurus graciosa - 2 (1?, 1?) Uma inornata - 13 (7?, 6?) (1? [inn] released) Dipsosaurus dorsalis - 21 (11?, 7?, [3 in released]) We reached UCR at 1120 after a trip of 129 miles.
