Mayhew 1962 Journal 31. June 26 Blue Ridge, Los Angeles Co., Calif. Sceloporus graciosus sample, although a strong wind was blowing from the southwest, we were able to find lots of S. graciosus on the lee side of the hill. Only one S. occidentalis was collected at this location, but a good sample of S. graciosus was obtained by 1720. We eat dinner at Big Pines Campground, but it began to get very cool as the sun disappeared behind the hills. Consequently, we decided to return to the desert to camp for the night. Then we could look for S. occidentalis at the lower elevation the next morning. Therefore, we left the Big Pines area. Saddleback Buttes area, Los Angeles Co., Calif. We drove to Llano, then past Lovejoy Buttes to Joshua Tree State Park near Saddleback Buttes. One Coleonyx variegatus (?) was collected near a rocky slope between Lovejoy and Saddleback Buttes. I think this is the only one we have collected in Los Angeles County so far. June 27 We arose at 0615 and ate breakfast. We began looking for S. magister at 0720 near Saddleback Buttes.
