Palm Springs, Riverside Co., Calif.
to Vista Chino. It was getting quite
warm by this time (1010 - 41.0°c air
temp.), so we caught only 2 Dipsozaurus
dorsalis + 1 Crotaphytus wislizeni. We
quit looking for lizards at 1030 &
headed for UCR. We reached UCR at
1145 after a trip of 119 miles. Our
catch for the morning:
Uma inornata - 20 (10♂, 6♀) (4 escaped: 3♀, 1 ♂)
Dipsozaurus dorsalis - 16 (10 ♂, 2 ♀) 4 released
Crotaphytus wislizeni - 3 (♂)
Total 39
We brought 31 back for dissection.

Hesperia, San Bernardino Co., Calif.

Evans + I left UCR at 0620 to
get a June sample of Sceloporus sp.
in the Mojave Desert & San Gabriel Mts.
We looked for Sceloporus magister
around Hesperia from 0715 to 1245.
We captured 18 of them during this
period. Most of the animals were
found on the west side of Hesperia.
Then we drove toward Phelan to gather
a sample of Sceloporus occidentalis.
However, the wind was blowing rather
hard by this time, so we saw no
lizards. Therefore, I decided to go
