Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif.
We arose at 0515 and ate breakfast. We began looking for Phrynosoma m'calli along the road at 0610, but none were seen until 0800, a juvenile Uta stansburiana was seen at 0715, which was the first reptile seen this morning. We stopped looking at 1050, since no animals (P. m'calli) were seen after 1000. After lunch we looked for Uma notata in the dunes from 1240 to 1345. It was so warm at that time (100°F - air temp.), we spent some time in the Glamis store, then returned for Uma at 1515. However, the wind was blowing so hard by this time that few animals could be seen. Consequently, we quit at 1600 and drove the road slowly toward Brawly, hoping to find some P. m'calli. One P. m'calli was found, in spite of the wind. After eating in Brawly (because of the wind), we night- collected one pass between the canals; we found one Colonyx variegatus. We quit for the night at 2015, since sand was blowing across the road rather abundantly by this time.
