Mayhew 1962 June 5 Dale Dry Lake, San Bernardino Co., Calif. Walt Moberly & I left UCR at 0500. We reached the collecting area at 0700. We began looking for lizards at 0720, but apparently were too early. We waited until 0800 and began again. No animals were seen until 0830. Reptiles never were abundant, nor were their tracks. The area is so dry, apparently many of the reptiles have died off. We looked for reptiles until 1215. By that time we had seen 1 Crotalus cerastes, 10 Dipsosaurus dorsalis, and 25 Uma scoparia, as well as 1 Urosaurus graciosa. We captured 34 lizards of 3 species. 4 Uma scoparia and 2 Dipsosaurus dorsalis were measured and released. We brought the following animals back to the laboratory: Urosaurus graciosa - 1 Uma scoparia - 21 (16 ?, 5 ) Dipsosaurus dorsalis - 6 (4 ?, 2 ) Total - 28 We reached UCR at 1540 after a trip of 218 miles.
