Palm Springs, Riverside Co., Calif.
I left Riverside at 0710, and
arrived at the collecting site on
Vista Chino at 0815. I measured
and released 26 Diposaurus dorsalis
Walt Moberly had been using for
experiments. The weather was still
quite cool, but I began to look
for lizards anyway. The first lizard
(ad. ♀ Uta insignata) was seen at 0845.
This was in Palm Springs Panorama.
The wind increased in intensity as
the morning progressed. It was
blowing 15-20 mph. by mid-morning.
There was no overcast, however. After
touring the Panorama for several hours
(dodging trucks hauling sand off the
Panorama streets) I returned to Vista
Chino. By 1230 I decided the wind
