Mayhew 1962 Journal 20. May 12 Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif. was all we saw on the road tonight. The maximum temp. we recorded today was 24°C., the minimum temp. tonight was 10°C. We slept in an S.P. section hands check tonight, thanks to Ike Harris. May 13 We arose at 0815 and ate breakfast. We caught some Uma notata as we drove through the dunes. Then we drove along the road between the canals looking for Phrynosoma m'calli + Dipsozaurus dorsalis, after lunch [illegible] (we ate at 1500) we went into the dunes again for Uma notata + Urosaurus gracivus. However, the wind began to blow again, and it blew so hard we found few lizards. We waited until dark to see if the wind would die down sufficiently to permit night collecting. However, it blew harder after dark, so we made our pass between Glamis & the Highline Canal, then headed for home. The only animal seen on the road was a Chionactis occipitalis. The maximum temp. today was 32.0°C. We reached YCR at 0035 after a total trip of 398 miles. We caught 60 animals alive, 8 of which were released.
