Mayhew 1962 Journal 17. May 4 Stoddard Valley, San Bernardino Co., Calif. I left UCR with the field zoology class at 1330 and drove to Hesperia. We looked for animals in the Joshua tree woodland until nearly dark, then headed for Stoddard Valley by way of Lucerne Valley. We might collected along the road from the north end of Lucerne Valley to our campsite. Only 1 adult ? Sceloprus magister that had been hit by a car, & 4 Crotalus cerastes were seen on the road alive. A Masticophis flagellum that contained a Cnemidophorus tigris was found DOR. No mammal caught. May 5 We arose at 0530 and ate tonight's breakfast. Then we scoured the countryside for animals until about 1100. The class found far more animals than I had expected them to locate. In all, 17 Zophorus agassizi were found at this location, along with numerous lizards, & 1 Salvadora hexalepis (also some more [3] Crotalus cerastes). After lunch we looked for Salermalus obseua and Crotaphytus collaris in the rocky area south of our campsite. Then we left this area, and headed for Dale Dry Lake, which
