Mayhew 1962 Journal Jan. 3 Val Verde, Riverside Co., Calif. Walt Moberly, Bill Tinsedell and I left UCR at 1345, and reached Val Verde at 1405. We went to see if any Sceloporus orcutti had emerged from hibernation yet. The day was very mild, as have been the past couple of weeks. However, no sign of S. orcutti could be found. We saw 13 Uta stansburiana and caught two of them. They were given to graduate student Kenneth Evans upon our return to UCR. No other reptiles were seen. We left Val Verde at 1520, reaching UCR at 1540. Jan. 24 Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif. Walt Moberly, Lon McClanahan, Yair Cassuto (Israeli graduate student), and I left UCR at 0900. The sun was shining brightly when we left, but the sky became overcast about Cabezon. Rain began to fall on us slightly south of Cudio. It rained fairly hard on us until we reached Brawly. We learned it had started raining about 3 AM in Brawly, and had continued ever since (about 2 PM at the time). It was still raining when we reached Glamis, and was raining very hard in the Chocolate Mts. at that time. At dark we drove from Glamis to Anza & back
