Sept. 10
San Gabriel Mts., Los Angeles Co., Calif.
I left UCR at 1200 to get a
sample of Sceloporus graciosus for
this month from these mountains.
I collected in the usual location
at Blue Ridge. I looked for lizards
from 1320 to 1520. Lizards were
conspicuous by their absence this
afternoon. They were not nearly
as numerous today as they were
in the San Bernardino Mts. last
Saturday (Sept. 7) afternoon. For
example, on Sept. 7 I caught 21 lizards
during this same time period, and
saw at least that many more I
was unable to capture. Today, however,
I captured only 7, and saw only about
10 other adults. In addition about 6
juveniles were seen today. I returned
to UCR at 1610 after a trip of 106 miles.
Sept. 17
Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif.
Lon McClanahan, Valerie Ernst & I
left UCR at 2145 in response to
a phone call from Glamis that it
had started to rain down there.
sept. 18
We reached Glamis at 0135 and
immediately began to look for
Sceloporus couchi. A great deal of
rain (1.70 inches) had fallen that
evening (between 1600 and 1900), but
