Mayhew 1963 Journal 38. Sept. 5 Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif. This morning we checked out a number of washes between Milpitas Wash and Glamis. Milpitas Wash is about ½ mile wide where the road crosses it. Many Palo Verde and Ironwood trees, as well as numerous Smoke Trees grow in the wash. There is much suitable habitat for S. couchi in this wash. Many tributaries flow into this wash, most of which also contain considerable suitable habitat for S. couchi. Then we checked the terrain near the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks from East Clyde to Niland for S. couchi habitat. We returned to UCR at 2000 after a trip of 433 miles. Sept. 7 Snow Valley, San Bernardino Co., Calif. Bobby, Bruce & I spent most of the day looking for Sceloporus graciosa at this location (7000 ft.). In all, we captured 42 of them today, all of these were measured & their temperatures recorded. All but 15 of them (1103, 42) were then released. Most of the released ones were immature. Sept. 8 The three of us spent about an hour looking this morning, but we caught only 2.
