June 11 Mojave Desert, San Bernardino Co., Calif.
Dale Dry Lake, then collected west of Rice. During the afternoon we looked for U. scorpia in the dunes 3 mi. N.W. of Chubuck. We caught 10 U. scorpia near Dale, 19 near Rice, and 3 near Chubuck.
We camped for the night at Kaiser's old Vulcan Mine in the Providence Mts. We caught 1 chiornactis at Kaiser.
June 12 This morning we captured 8 U. scorpia in the Kaiser Dunes and 2 more in the dunes along the Mojave River 2 miles west of Lenwood. In all, 42 Uma Scorpria were captured this trip, as well as 4 Diposaurus dorsalis, 4 Phrynosoma platyhinus, 1 Crepidophorus tigeris and 1 Chiornactis occipitalis. We returned to UCR at 1650 after a total trip of 509 miles.
The weather was extremely mild for this time of year on both the Glavis and the Mojave [illegible] Desert trips. The temperature was never over 32°C the entire time.
