April 29
Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif.
We arose at 0700 and ate breakfast. Then we began driving the road, looking for P. m'calli;
at 0740. We continued this until
1220. During this period, we caught
9 P. m'calli and saw 8 DOR m'calli.
We also caught 2 Dipsoaurus
dorsalis. One Cremidophorus tigris
and 4 Callisaurus draconoides were
the only other reptiles seen
today. I don't know why more
aren't present between the canals.
The weather was a repeat of
yesterday, so the lizards should
have been active, if any are
still there. P. m'calli still
seems to be the most abundant
lizard between the canals - at
least, of those that don't reside
in the creosote bushes (i.e. Urosaurus
gracilosa). We reached UCR at
1600 after driving 172 miles today,
and 390 miles on the entire
trip. We caught the following animals:
Colonyx variegatus - 22 (10♀, 12♂) (+1 DOR ♀)
Phrynosoma m'calli-13(3♀, 10♂) (+1 DOR ♂)
Dipsoaurus dorsalis-3 (2♀, 1 im ♂)
Uma notata -1(♂)
Uta stansburiana-1(♀)
Total = 40 (+2 DOR)
