Mayhew 1963 Journal April 19-21 Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif. creosote group. I had the dune group. The wind blew constantly, so very few animals were seen. To top things off, Bob got one Travellall stuck at the edge of the road, which cost us about an hour. Then Tony Roth lost the keys to one of the Travelalls in the dunes. We had to "hot wire" it to get it back. Luckily, he had forgotten to lock the vehicle before we went out into the dunes. Night collecting was just as bad as on the previous night. Sunday morning the wind was still blowing, so we headed for home. We arrived at UCR at 1630 after a total trip of 506 miles. The only animals captured were as follows: Chionactis occipitalis -1 Dipsodus deserti-1 Uta stansburiana-1 Coleonyx variegatus -4 Callisaurus draconoides -2 Dipsoaurus dorsalis-3 Uma notata- 37 Urosaurus graciosus -27 Total = 76 We also saw 4 Crotalus cerastes while in the area.
