end of the dune. The lizards at
Dune #1 were released by a power
pole at the NW corner of the dune.

Bob Glaser & I took the field
zoology class to the Colorado
Desert this week-end. There were
22 of us in all (3 International
Travelalls & 1 1/2 ton truck). Sand
was really moving by the time we
reached Palm Springs (winds about
25 mph). One of the Travelalls
Got sand between the points, so it
stopped running near the Palm
Springs cemetery. About an hour
was lost in finding & correcting
the trouble. We reached the Glamis
area by sun-down, but the wind
was blowing so hard and it was
so cold, we found very few animals
on the road that night.
The class was divided between the
dunes & the creosote bush scrub
during the morning (0800 to 1130), then
the groups were changed in the
afternoon (1400 to 1600). Bob had the
