Mayhew 1963 Journal 14, April 11 Palm Springs, Riverside Co., Calif. beline our eyes the first time. This amounts to approximately 1 1/2 acres of land. Saw a shrike nest with 5 young in it. After leaving Palm Springs, we drove to Indian Cove, where we camped for the night. We drove 173 miles today. April 12 Dale Dry Lake, San Bernardino Co., Calif. We arose at 0600 & ate breakfast. Then we drove to our collecting site at Dale Lake. We were looking for lizards at 0700. We looked along the road until about 1100 without success. We walked around in the sand a bit during this period, but found only 2 Uma scoparia. We then walked over a considerable acreage, looking for lizards, but without too much success at first. Then we began to see more Diposaurus dorsalis than Uma. The sky began to get slightly overcast about noon, & continued to become more cloudy as the afternoon progressed. A slight SE breeze also began to blow about the same time. The maximum air temp.(1m) recorded today was 29.0°C. Diposaurus disappeared from the surface about 1345 because the wind began cooling the environment. Many of the Uma,
