12.
Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif.
Look for Uma notata & Urosaunus
graciosa. We looked for them until
1730. Not many Uma were seen (only
hell a dozen), but we were able to
catch 9 Urosaunus during this period.
In this wind, they tended to stay
down in the denser portions of the
vegetation, but thy were above the
ground. No Dipsoauna dorsalis or
Callisaurus draconoides were seen
today, presumably because of the
wind. The air temp. was in the high
80's or low 70's (F).
We began to night collect at 1845.
We made a complete trip from the
Highline Canal to Glamis & back (28mi.)
We collected 1 Chiroactis occipitalis, 1
young Phyllorhychus decutatus, and 9
Colonyx variegatus, in spite of the
fairly strong wind & almost 100%
overcast. We stopped at 2100, we
drove 70 miles today.
April 9
We arose at 0700 and ate breakfast. The
wind was still blowing & the sky was
completely overcast, so we headed for
home at 0800. We returned home by
way of Highway 78 & Warner Hot
Springs. We drove 189 miles today, & a
total of 865 miles on the entire trip.
We reached UCR at 1440.
