Mayhew 1963 Journal 8. Mar. 16 Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif. UCR at 1910, arriving at 2215. It rained on us steadily from Calegon on to Riverside. It was raining so hard in Riverside we didn't unpack the carry-all. The total trip covered 418 miles. Mar. 20 Dale Dry Lake, San Bernardino Co., Calif. Shirley Hill & I left UCR at 0705, & reached the collecting area at 0900. We did most of our collecting from the car. We saw relatively few lizards while walking, so we returned to driving along the road. Only Uma scoparia were seen today - no other reptiles appear to be active yet. We captured 34 Uma + saw 6 others between 0900 and 1600. All Uma activity apparently had ceased by 1505, since we saw none after that time. We released Sauromalus obesus #3 at Indian Cove on the way home. We reached UCR at 1900 after driving 230 miles. Mar. 22 Mira Loma, Riverside Co., Calif. This morning I released 55 Uma of 3 species on dunes 2, 3 & 4 (33 U. scoparia on #2; 7 U. notata on #3; 15 U. inornata on #4). Dune #2 is in Riverside Co. at the San Bernardino - Riverside county boundary. Dunes 3 & 4
