Mar. 15 Glamis area, Imperial Co., Calif.
Kenneth Evans, Herbert Brown and
I left UCR at 1730. We reached
the Highline Canal at 2030 and
immediately began night collecting.
However, no animals were seen by
21 20 (16 miles), so we quit for the
night. The air temperature was quite
low (approx. 15°C) during this period.
Mar. 16 We arose at 0745 and ate breakfast.
We reached the Coachella Canal at
0855 and began looking for Phrynosoma
calli to no avail. We found 2 DOR,
but no live animals. We looked
until 1345 without success. The
air was cool & the sky was 100%
overcast much of the time, so I
wasn't surprised we didn't see any
lizards. After lunch we looked
for Uma notata & Urosaurus gracilis
in the dunes. Quite a few Urosaurus
were found, but not many Uma were
seen. We quit looking at 1745.
After we ate, we made one pass
through the area, looking for Colonyx.
However, the cloud cover, cool temp. &
slight breeze still persisted, so we
didn't find any. It appeared as
though it would rain during the
night, so we headed back for
