1997 Walter D Koering 1 Melanerpes formicivorus Lower Haystack HNHR 2 April 1430. Bird in the traditional hole. Empty, but it's cleaned out and ready to go. 22 April 1130. Checked the nest: 5 eggs (+7 acorns!?). Measured one: 23.5 x 19.2. 28 April 1430. 2 hatchlings + 3 eggs, all just starting to pip. Will all probably hatch. Band ~19 May. 6 May 1145. Here set up to try and catch the ♀. 1415. Shit! Missed her. Giving up for today. 7 May 1230. Finally got her. Now #2777. 1998 29 April Lots of stores left. 1999 13 April 1500. Lots of stores left. 11 May 1115. Bird in traditional hole: 5 eggs, 1 runt (!) Fresh. Measured one: 23.9 x 19.7 mm 6 July Stores: Yes.
