1993 1994 Walter D Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus 1800 25 January 1530. Counted stores: Main tree: 1912 } 2092 2° tree: 180 Doing pretty well. Granary is about as full as it's likely to ever be. 24 April! 1600. Still acorns here. Checked the hole in The 2° granary: a Screech Owl! I couldn't reach the bottom, but I don't think there was anything else in there (the birds had been hanging out in/near this hole). 5 May 1430. Opened the new nest hole (in The main granary), where there are 4 eggs. 9 July Some stores remaining. January 20 1994 1430. Counted stores: Main tree: 1790 } 1960 2° tree 170 Granary is pretty full. 30 April! 1330. Last year's nest hole has 5 fresh eggs. Sizes are: ① 25.5 x 19.1 ② 25.0 x 18.9 ③ 24.3 x 18.6 ④ 24.2 x 18.6 ⑤ 22.8 x 18.6. Plenty of stores remaining. 29 May 1525. Set up to try and get the NOBA helper ♂ at the nest. 1600. Birds have been in the tree for some time, but still no feeds. 1670. Finally a feeding visit by ①♀ R-W/M #787. 1635.②♀ M/DBlue #2273 in tree. (③♂ Red/DB-(ACN)#2340 came to hole with food but did not enter or feed. Still plenty of stores here, by the way. 1715. Quitting for now. Things are awfully quiet at the nest, although I presume it is active.
