1997 1998 1999 Walter Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus 1500 UNHR 30 March 1530. Bird in the traditional hole. 31 March 1200. Opened it: nothing yet; still needs some cleaning. 10 April 1100. Checked nest: 4 eggs, incubated. (D) 26.2 x 18.6. 8 May 1100. Banded & bled the 3 babies: 2787-2789. Plenty of stored acorns left here. 9 June 1315. 4 eggs (2nd nest). Same hole. Plenty of stores. 9 July 830. Banded the 1 kid. Still stores here. 1998 22 April Plenty of stores and one fine fat badger here, but noone in any holes except (!) a Starling. 23 April Cleared the Starling nest out of the hole. 1999 13 April 1500. Good number of stores remaining. Noone in any holes, however.
