Refute 1 (Central Canyon)
HNHR
10 April
1300. Came over here to check the old nest hole (Central Canyon tree) but it seemed as though the birds were more interested in a new hole several feet higher and facing HNHR. I checked both; both were empty. The new hole is in better shape, however.
Also, there are at least a fair number of acorns stored in and under the bark of this tree.
14 April
1130. Bird here, but none in the holes.
19 April
1100. " " " " " "
21 April
1420. Bird in the (new) higher hole. Time to check again.
22 April
1500. Checked the (new) hole: 3 fresh eggs.
30 April
1430. 5 eggs now, incubated. Only measured the 2 new ones: ④ 26.2 × 20.6 ⑤ 25.0 × 19.7. Does Joey have the measurements for the others, or did I not take them on the 22nd?
Still stores here.
29 May
1215. Checked 2nd nest: 1 baby, not weighed but certainly 2-3 days old, plus 4 unhatched eggs, 2 developed and 2 not.
Even if those last 2 hatch, I think they're too late. Only 1 kid a possibility here!
There are still stores here.
16 June
1100. Banded & bled the single kid. There are stores remaining, by the way.
8 October
600. Got 2 birds in the upper hole this morning - 91325 and a 8NOSA. Presumably the latter replaced 81525, but it's not clear he's gone as yet. We'll see... *see Michael's notes.
