26 April
1315. F in old hole (#28), highish up in traditional nest tree.
Re-opened it: 4 babies, 2-3 do, no eggs.
Quite a few stores remaining here.
11 May
915. 3 kids here, looking fine.
16 May
930. Banded and bled the 3 kids, who are pretty emaciated. There
are stored acorns left here.
29 June
Still stored acorns here (Joey).
1996
9 January
1530. Counted stores: Nest tree: 410
"Hast." fallen limb: 570
Not bad. Note that many of the holes in the nest tree are,
I believe, new.
12 April
1430. Birds still have stores here. None in any holes,
though.
*4 June
930. Came up to band the kids here (including the 2 Plague
transplants) only to find 1 large Gopher Snake in the
hole biting me as I tried to pull out the kids, all
of whom had been transformed into bulges in the
snake's belly! Nest Predation!
