1993 1994 1995 Walter D Koenig Melanurpes formicivorus Arf too HNHR 18 May 900. Bird in upper hole: peeped it: 4 eggs (1 a runt?) 21 June 1530. Banded & bled the single baby. MTS says: ~10 acorns left in April; none now. 1994 2 May 1650. Bird in upper hole. 9 May 1440. Checked hole: 3 babies + 1 unhatched egg. See Joey's notes for weights and measurements (of the infertile egg). 1995 25 May Joey got up here once a couple weeks ago but basically we've had to ignore these guys because the road still hasn't been cleared. However, I made it up here this afternoon and, like our prior checks, saw nothing. I even peeped the 2 holes, but no sign of a nest, impending or otherwise, in either. Also, no stores remaining here, by the way. Of course we can't really be sure there's even a group here at the moment... 1996 10 June 1515. Haven't seen boo here this year until now: bird in the upper (old) hole. However, I went up and checked it and found it empty (but in good shape, anyway). 27 September 930. Banded and bled the single fall baby here.
