1993 1994 Walter D Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus School Hill H/NHR 25 January 1900. Counted stores: Main tree: 1845? 1979 2° tree: 134 Not especially full, but the trees are fairly well loaded. 20 April 1430. 2 birds flushed & young babies calling from the hole in the upper exclosure tree. 21 April 1330. Brought Eink up for a watch and checked the hole, where there are 4 babies: White 52.0 24 LPink 52.0 23 Orange 55.7 25 La. 48.7 22. ~13 They're ~13 do, (??) which makes the ELED ~ 29 March. 4 May 1330. Banded & bled the 4 babies here (now ~ day 26). 30 May 1415. Made a quick pass at the holes here, but nothing obvious going on. There are stores remaining, by the way. 4 July 830. Banded & bled the 2 babies in the 2nd nest (tree 2 in exclosure). A few stores still remaining. 1994 21 January 1145. Counted stores: Main tree: 2250? 2380. 2° tree: 130 Doing quite well. Room for a tad more still (in the bark), but otherwise quite replete. 13 April 1545. 5 4-5-day-old babies in the Sch. Hill "C" hole! One smaller than the others, but all may make it. 1615. None in any other holes - the above nest is certainly it. 3 May 1230. Banded the 4 babies. Acorns still remaining.
