1994 1995 1996 Walter D Koenig 2 Melanerpes formicivorus Road 3 HNHR 18 April 1600. Opened the high hole in the MacFlat Valley Oak, where Joey has seen birds the last couple days: 5 fresh eggs. Marked 1-5: ① 23.0 x 19.0 ② 23.4 x 19.9 ③ 23.4 x 20.0 ④ 23.9 x 20.2 ⑤ 23.4 x 19.5. 1995 23 May Joey + I checked the nest here - 4 kids, 1 on way out That we bled & returned. More interestingly, baby (?) Pigmy Owls were apparently fledging from an unopened hole lower in the tree here! Banded and bled the 3 kids here. As expected, the 4th didn't make it. Best I can tell, there are no stores remaining here, even over in the burned-out MacFlat tree across the road! 1996 4 January 1430. Counted stores: R3 sycamore: 150 (Not much left of this thing!) R3 Valley oak: 290 } MacFlat trees: 0 At MacFlat, both sycamore snags in the flat area between the road & the creek have fallen. All that's left is the burned snag on the other side of the road, but it's empty. Things have really gone downhill here; even though they don't have much, the only unused storage facility is the MacFlat tree with maybe 300 holes; Their total capacity here (including MacFlat) is probably about 900! 17 July 2100. After Joey saw 5 birds at the old (MacFlat)
