1995 1996 Walker D Koenig Melanopipes fomivarius Gate 3 May 115. Bird in old hole in Live Oaks. opened it: 3 eggs, possibly incubated 1-2 days. Measured one: 25.8*18.3 mm 12 May 1400. Hole empty! Nest failed! 18 May 1200. Checked new hole (actually, one of the old holes, used mostly by Starlings) in the Sycamore - 6 eggs, fairly fresh. 26 May 1630. Now 8 eggs'. Measured one: 27.4 * 20.1 mm. Also cleaned out a starling nest in the old high hole. 7 June 1530. Checked hole: 3 kids, 1 bigger + 2 smaller, about 8 days old as expected. 9 June 1130. To be on the safe side, I bled the 3 kids (#2626 - 2628). 13 June 1950. Watched roosting here tonight, seeing 91571, 92251, and 82028, who roosted by himself in the nest. 1996 4 January 1520. Counted stores: 150. Hanging in there, if only barely, like the rest of the road groups! 30 April 1300. Bird in the high hole in The Sycamore. 6 May 1130. Bird in hole again. Went up: 4 eggs, incubated. Sizes are: ① 27.1 * 20.1; ② 27.2 * 20.4; ③ 25.7 * 19.1; ④ 26.0 * 19.4. 14 May 1030. All 4 eggs have hatched; 1 chick is runty but otherwise they look fine and ~3-4 days old. 3 June 82028 roosted in the nest tonight, by himself. 4 June And again, 82028 roosted in the nest tonight. 12 August 930. 2 LOUD KIDS! In high (spring) hole! Banded & bled. About 17 do, giving an ETD of about 15 July!
