1994 1995 WaltirD Koenig 2 Melanerpes formicivorus Westgate HNHR (31 May) replacement breeders (the former breeder male got nailed by a car about the time eggs were laid) is unknown. 2 June 1330. Katy reports that there's still a ♀ NOBA here, so I'm back to go after her. 1615. Not much happening and the light sucks. Try again in the morning! 3 June 600. Trying again. 745. Finally got her! Now ₵2489. 7 June 1100. Banded and bled the 6 kids. 25 July Acorn stores still remaining. 1995 17 April 1020. Pete reports bird in the lower hole of the the dead limb. We came out here and saw lots of activity - possibly egg-tossing is going on? In any case, the hole (not easily gotten to anymore) is empty. 24 April 1100. Birds have been in the same hole several times so I checked it again- but it's still empty! 8 May Three of the helper ♀ at the power struggle at 1500. 24 May 1600. Opened the lower hole in the dead limb where I've seen a bird 2-4 times in the past several days - nice but empty. I also went ahead and knocked the back cutouts out of the upper (actually middle) hole, as the limb is too rotten to warrant risking having them use it anymore. Let them use this lower hole if they insist on this limb! 29 May 930. Bird in low hole in dead limb again. 31 May 1500. Checked hole: empty!!! Egg-tossing, maybe?
