1995 1996 Walter D Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus MPHF HNHR 17 June 1000. Lots of stores but no sign of a renest here. 1996 11 April 1400. No stores left here! 23 May 1515. 3 eggs, measured. (See Joey's notes). 26 September 930. Came by to show this area to Carol & Geoff, only to see a kid (old!) looking out of the hole! I blocked it up and went back for supplies, eventually banding 1 kid only, old enough such that others may have fledged already.! 8 October 2000. Finally ambushed an old MPHF hole and got 82076 - a 1992 MPHF nestling who's not been seen since January 1995! There's clearly work to be done here! 15 October 530. Ambushed the traditional hole in the MPHF tree (same one where the baby was on 26 Sept.) and caught 2 adults, 81962 (who we knew was here) and 82348, who we didn't. In fact, we don't really have any idea what she's doing here. Is she the mother of the nest? What about 82509? What is going on here?
