1993 1994 1995 Walter D Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus CVI HNHR 14 May 907. Banded & bled the 6 babies here. (Do they all belong here or did Mark transplant any?) 19 June 1540. Stores remaining here (a fair number). 10 July 910. " " 1994 12 April 1020. Still stores here. Also, flushed a bird from the old nest hole low in the granary (facing back toward the trunk). 1600. Opened the hole: 6 eggs, not clean but still translucent (incl. for 1-2 days, probably). Measured the eggs: ① 25.9 x 19.3 ③ 25.8 x 19.7 ⑤ 26.1 x 19.9 ② 26.2 x 19.5 ④ 24.4 x 18.7 ⑥ 25.6 x 20.0 12 May 940. Note: nest failed after hatching for unknown reasons [see MTS notes]. Plenty of stores here, but no sign of a renest. 20 May 1130. Found the renest - or at least a ? in a hole - over by the windmill. No sounds when she flushed, so probably eggs. 23 May 1000. Opened The hole: 6 eggs, looks almost ready to hatch. 3 June 1000. 4 babies: ① LB (56.8) ② Yd (54.6) ③ LP (60.6) ④ NOBA (58.2) Band ~13 June. 25 July Stores remaining. 1995 6 June Put the back back on the windmill hole. 17 June Although there's no sign of a renest, there are some stores left here.
