10 April
1425. Bird in the Live Oak hole over by the creek. First
nest of the year? These birds do have some acorns left.
11 April
1330. Checked the hole: 6 eggs, incubated. I measured
2 of them (They all seemed normal); see Joey's notes for
the values.
The birds do have some stores remaining.
3 May
945. Banded & bled the 4 babies here.
7 May
316lb roosted in the nest tonight by himself.
(Got a good look at 0--1M from the far side of
the creek.)
8 May
Nobie roosted in the nest tonight with the kids....
17 June
1630. No obviously intact acorns left here; could
be a few bits...
29 October
With apparently a missed fall nest here, we ambushed
at the will hole (over by C Vette) where we got ♀2668
(a kid from last spring), and also at the new hole
in the only remaining large Valley Oak in the F-troop
area, where we got ♂2550 (♂2550 a kid) and a ♀NOBA
(now ♂2737)! Who's this? Is ♂2550 budding off up
here? And where are the fledglings...?!
19 December
Our friends over on oak ridge had the poor taste to
cut down the granary here today. Poor things.
No telling what will happen here now!
